RTE 603A: New homes, office space and shopping will be built in a newly developed neighbourhood on the island of Oman.
Dubai-based architect Bongos Tanmi, the firm behind Oromoya, will create a new area of 5,000 square metres with the aim of providing new life and economic activity to the town.
“We are proud to be able to create a residential area of this size on an island of about 10,000 people,” Mr Tanmi said.
“The area is situated in a rich ecosystem of green, coral and sandy beaches, which provide a beautiful backdrop to the vibrant, active lifestyle of the Omani people.”
Mr Tanmi is a native of Oman who has been living in Dubai since his childhood and has worked in Dubai for the past five years.
The new community is part of a project that includes the development of a number of residential and commercial buildings.
Oromoya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has been the site of many tourist attractions including the famous sunset from the Oromo Islands, which is famous for its coral reefs.
In the future, the developer is also planning to create an entertainment complex with an indoor and outdoor stage and cinema, as well as an indoor cinema.
It is expected that the development will be completed in 2018.
