Miami Beach weather can be an incredibly stressful and unforgiving environment.
The Miami Beach Police Department warns against using a beach or beach ball in an extreme weather event.
If you’re not familiar with the weather in Miami, the following tips are in order of priority: Avoiding the city: Avoiding the area around downtown.
Avoid going to the beach or going out in the ocean.
Avoiding other places that are close to the city and beaches: If possible, go to a different area in the city that’s not within a half-hour drive of your destination.
Do not go out near the city during daylight hours.
This will allow for the maximum amount of daylight to be available for your location.
Go outside if possible, and if possible go to an open area.
You don’t want to leave yourself open to a storm.
Use your sunscreen.
Always wear sunglasses, a hat, and a windbreaker.
If you have any allergies, use the appropriate filter for your water.
If your water is too cold to drink, use bottled water.
Get to a safe location before the storm.
If you can, find a safe spot to camp, or you can get a shelter if you’re able to.
There’s a lot of things that can go wrong during an extreme storm, and these tips will help you stay safe and prepare for the worst.
