(AP) A man was charged Tuesday with beating a dog and killing it in a brutal attack that also left the animal’s remains floating in a creek, authorities said.
State Attorney Dave Aronberg said the dog died in the creek and an autopsy is pending.
Police said they received a call to the 5500 block of West Beach Road around 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday about a dog who was suffering from a “medical emergency.”
Aronberg says the dog had been hit by a car and was taken to a veterinarian.
The man told officers he knocked the dog to the ground and beat it with a cane.
He said he did not hit the dog with a hammer.
